Mobility

Mobility and freedom go hand in hand in my opinion. After all, you also set off with your camper for the same purpose. And once you have reached your destination, most people still want to be somewhat mobile. Then people will say: Then take a caravan! Then you also have a car with you. But I think that is another discussion. But anyway, if you are staying in one place for one or more days, you may also want to see something of the area. And the number of options is also quite large. Below I will share my experiences.

The old school bike

Until recently we had some older old school hybrid bikes. Nice and light in weight. That actually went fine. Enough gears to get up the hill. They went on the back of the camper because getting dirty was not a problem and given the age of the bikes we were also not afraid that someone would run off with them. Until our youngest daughter fell with the bike because we had done the shopping and not everything fit in the backpack. So cycling with one hand... that was not handy. So it was time for a new phase. The e-bike.

E-bike folding bikes

Never really thought we would make this switch. We always thought. "We don't need that". But yes, we were at the camper fair in Utrecht last year and there were quite a few exhibitors with all their bikes that you could test ride. If you do that, you'll be sold quickly. We also thought it was important that we could fold up our bikes and store them in the garage of the camper. Because yes, those bikes are not cheap. Now we have cycled with them several times and filled our panniers with groceries and we like it very much. And yes, you get lazy because you can quickly find that button for the support. That's just the way it is :)

Public transport

An alternative is public transport or a taxi. Many campsites offer free or discounted public transport and in Luxembourg it is even free everywhere! Then you hope that the bus stop is nearby. And if that is not available, there is always a taxi. But we have not actually used that yet. And then there is always walking.

The leg car

We actually prefer walking. You enjoy nature and the surroundings the most. And walking 10 km is, certainly considering our age, no problem at all. Yes, you are nice and tired when you get back. Well, then it is time to get out your comfortable chairs and sit down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
